Die erste urkundliche Erwähnung des Ortsnamens Buch findet sich in einer Urkunde im Stiftsarchiv St. Georgenberg-Fiecht. Dr. Martin Bitschnau datiert diese Urkunde im Urkundenbuch Bd II/3 nach dem 18.Juli 1228 und vor 1230
